We offer a breathtaking, two story three bedroom home, nestled in the mountain foothills on a quiet private street with spectacular views of both Lake Chapala and the surrounding mountains. Truly a unique home for this area of Mexico, providing all the amenities and comforts required for a comfortable stay in Ajijic.

In 1998, Frank Norman, an architect and professional Engineer, and Anne Norman, an interior decorator and college teacher in interior design, ventured down from Canada to Mexico, seeking to find a warmer paradise to spend their later years. They explored two key places; Ajijic, and San Miguel de Allende.

They were absolutely captivated by the architecture of San Miguel de Allende, but even more captivated by the quiet charm and artistic tranquility of Ajijic. Therefore, in 2000, they purchased a piece of raw, rocky land in the foothills of the mountains above Lake Chapala, and built this beautiful home as a testament to the traditional Spanish colonial style of San Miguel de Allende.

Located in a very safe, quiet neighborhood only a 15-20 minute walk or a, easy, short drive into the center of the village, this spacious, private home provides one off-street, secured covered parking space, with additional, readily available street parking if needed.

The bedrooms are all located on the upper floor, with a centrally located family area with French doors opening up to a standing balcony overlooking the lake and distant mountains.

The large master bedroom suite is segregated on one side of the upper floor for maximum privacy, and is complete with a grand private terraza overlooking the lake and mountains, a spacious en-suite bathroom lined with travertine walls, with both a standup shower and a deep relaxing bathtub.

The other two bedrooms are located on the other side of this grand house, and share a spacious comfortable bathroom accessible from both rooms directly (with lockable doors), with a large standup shower and large skylight providing ample bright daylight.

The main guestroom is generously sized with a queen sized bed, large windows and French doors, opening on to a small standing-only balcony overlooking beautiful Lake Chapala. The smaller bedroom resides on the mountain side of the house, is quieter, and contains two twin beds suitable for children or single guests. This room also has a small standing balcony where one can enjoy the sounds of birds and admire the quiet dead-end street and beautiful mountains overhead.

The dining room is appointed with a large table suitable for dining in style. The colonial style kitchen is complete with a center island prep area, equipment for serving, cooking and eating, a dishwasher, and more than ample counter space. The kitchen was specifically designed for cooks and chefs alike, making entertaining and cleanup easy, with immediate access to an additional outdoor patio dining area for four (or more), where guests can enjoy the fresh night air coming from the lake and mountains.

For relaxation, there is a large outdoor terraza with a modestly sized swimming pool for both relaxing and exercise, with various seating areas for sunning, or seeking shelter from the sun. The property is lavishly decorated with beautiful plants and gardens, with a small reading bench and café table for two sitting invitingly beside an ornamental outdoor fountain. In the evenings, both the garden area and swimming pool can be lit up for stunning evening scenes, social settings and/or romantic escapes.

This is a secure, fully-enclosed, walled property. The inner front door opens to a grand, welcoming entry hall that extends up fully to the ceiling of the upper floor, with a large fountain one one side and grand chandelier above. Ahead lays an equally grand sunken living and dining area with a lovely gas fireplace, for the few, rare cool winter nights in Ajijic.

One of the most common things people remark upon when entering this lovely home is the abundance of windows and doors that allow in ample light and fresh air. The many French doors can be opened wide to create a distinct indoor-outdoor living environment if desired, perfect for the temperate climate of Ajijic. This is abundance of light is not particularly common to many homes in this area of Mexico.

Finally, the lower floor has a complete laundry room for the guests use, and a third half bathroom for guests.

Villa Nova is a special gem of a neighborhood. Over the past decades it has invited some of the best American and Canadian influences in style and quality, while maintaining it's authentic Mexican beauty, history and architecture.

While a car is a great convenience to have, those without, can take a short walk down to catch a bus that runs about every fifteen minutes into Ajijic. From Ajijic, one can easily transfer to Chapala, Guadalajara and many other exciting destinations. Or, one can go in the opposite direction toward San Juan Cosala and Jocotepec, to enjoy vibrant night clubs and restaurants, or spend the day soaking at natural hot spring resorts.

The rent of USD $875 USD per week is all inclusive, which includes property maintenance, high-speed-internet, electricity, gas, maid service (general cleaning twice per week – sheets and linens once per week) potable water in kitchens and bathrooms (bottled water will also be available on arrival to those nervous about the water in Mexico), and local telephone service (long distance is additional). Note that television is NOT included but may be arranged with sufficient advanced notice for additional cost.

In addition to the main house, there is a small, very romantic Casita on the lowest floor, that will soon be ready for rental to accommodate an additional two people (when available later this year). It will have a large Jacuzzi tub and feature stunning gardens as well. The two rental properties are suitably situated to be rented together, or provide adequate privacy and sound isolation from each other, should the units be rented by different guests. Both guests have access to park one car in the double garage, but from there, entryways to the two rentals are separate, to provide the ultimate in privacy if desired.

Night: $200 (3 night minimum), Week: $980, Month, $2,400, USD
